Story

The sun had set, and the city was coated in an intoxicating layer of darkness. At this point, Noelle had decided that a midnight stroll might be in order. She needed a breather after the terrible day, but this walk would not be very peaceful. "For god's sake, why do they have to be so loud, you're building a house not blowing up a mountain" Noelle groaned as she looked at the construction site in the distance. As she questioned this, she heard the sickly sweet voice that still haunted her dreams. The voice belonged to Richard, her ex. The same ex that had killed her family, before threatening to release the footage he had secretly recorded during their time together. The night was still fresh in Noelle's mind despite the years passing since. "Ah great! I'm glad to hear that we are finally laying the foundations! This is gonna be the nicest house in the neighbourhood!" Richards's voice floated throughout the street. His status as a pillar of the community was paying off. Noelle speeds up in an attempt to rush past unseen. Their eyes lock as she checks to see if he has seen her.

"Alright everyone, Time to go home for the night!" he calls out, sending the construction company home. "I will finish up here tonight." Before he could finish his sentence, the company staff had already started packing up, leaving the site nearly empty within minutes. Noelle turned to try and sneak away, hidden within the group of construction staff, but it was too late. A hand covers her mouth as she feels her body pulled backwards, as Richard pulls her into his embrace. "I don't think you are going anywhere hun, we need to have a little chat." Noelle's spine tingled with a mix of fear and morbid curiosity. What was this discussion about, could she turn the tables between them and would it end up being enough to stop him once and for all?

Her mind ran wild with different plans and ideas as she pondered this. This would only last so long as she would snap back to the present moment when he spoke again. "You know, for someone who gets into so many near-death experiences. I expected you to be harder to catch." She could see his sweet smile as it dawned on her. Her hands had been cuffed, her daydream posing as the perfect chance to capture her in such a way. "Let's go sit by the hole where the foundations will be hun, throw away any negative feelings and seal them away forever." She never got a choice in the matter, led over to a bench near the pit by Richard. "I haven't forgotten what you did, dick. You may act like this symbol of perfection but doesn't it eat you up inside knowing what you are?" Noelle asked, not expecting an answer.

"I do regret leaving a loose end or two, you are correct." Richard would answer, as he turned to look at her small form. "But I like to think that after our discussions today, we will both feel a lot better." Something about this felt wrong, he had never shown any interest in being polite to her before, especially not when it was just the two of them. "I would like to sincerely and thoroughly apologise for what I did. I know that saying sorry won't bring them back but I do truly feel awful about what I did back then. I do not have any interest in justifying my actions either." What unsettled Noelle wasn't what he was saying, it was the soft-spoken voice he said it in. It felt like he was trying to comfort a child. She wondered if that was how he truly saw her. "You know hun, everything I have done since has been in your honour." Questionable at best and a flat-out lie at worst, this falsehood hung in the air for what felt like an eternity, before he spoke once more to break the silence his own words had caused.

"We don't see eye to eye. That's very clear to me. But after today I am more than sure we will get along perfectly fine." Another pause, he had always been particularly fond of them. One would have to wonder whether he would have gone into acting or drama had he not ended up volunteering for a charity. "A perfect duo even! With you playing the role of the floor and myself playing the role of the man who walks on the floor so much that one would be a fool to pay any mind to it." With the sudden tone shift in his voice, he would push Noelle down into the pit. Her cuffed hands would make sure that struggle was her only option, as any attempt to hold on or keep a balance at this moment would prove a nigh impossibility. Her body came to a stop as he loomed over, carefully climbing a ladder down into the pit himself. "What a pickle. You have no way out. It's such a shame to see you like this, after all, you would always remind me that outliving me was the only goal you had."

"You! You fucking bitch, I will make sure that ever-" As she spoke, he would use this moment to interrupt her by pulling out a few cloth rags from his pockets, placing them into Noelle's open mouth and using some high-strength glue and a roll of tape to ensure that the rags could and would not slip loose. His eyes seemed to sparkle even brighter than when he had first noticed her nearby. This had been his plan all along. His ultimate plan is to finish his job from so long ago. Only one member of the Jade family remained, and here she was bound in a pit. "Oh, darling! Isn't this so exciting?! Finally finishing the job I started. Finally killing you." He leans down, smiling as his foot pins Noelle's body to the rebar floor. "I got some special zip ties just for you hun! I also have a camera ready to make my list of footage of you even bigger." The threat hung in the air as Noelle's eyes widened, her body unable to articulate what she was thinking due to the cloth gag taped to her mouth. As Richard zip-ties her to the horizontal rebar, Noelle struggles, unable to break free. Once she is fully tied down, her ex reaches over and places another layer of rebar over her, making sure she is never going to escape.

As Richard climbed up the ladder, pulling said ladder out of the pit after reaching the top he smiled. "You gonna make a good floor hun, I wish I could do this again and again but sadly once you're gone it's over." Noelle's eyes widen as he walks over to the cement truck that had been left on-site, it clicks in her mind what is going to happen. "Aww, that look on your face tells me that you have worked out just what I meant when I said that you would be playing the role of floor." With that, he pulled the valve. A wet slopping sound as the pit began to fill. Noelle could feel the cold liquid slowly piling over her feet. As she thrashed against the zip-ties she realised that it was hopeless. Even if she could break the zip-ties in time, there was no way she was getting out of the pit without the ladder. Her eyes settle on Richard as he stands humming a tune, fiddling with the camera to make sure the settings are just right.

"You know hun, with you gone there won't be any reason not to post our videos online." He sang with a cruel yet seductive tone, knowing just how disgusting he was. "Oh, where should I start, maybe the time I wrapped you up with your very own tights! I'm sure the people would love to see that! Honestly, I should just dump it all in one go, it's not like you will be around to stop me." The cold cement slowly crept up her legs, almost like some sort of creature eating her. Looking up at Richard almost as if to beg, she feels tears prick at the corner of her eyes. Knowing that it was all over. What a shame, she might have enjoyed punishing Richard if she survived this but there was no way out.

As time passes, the pit continues to fill, with the cement slowly reaching across her body from the corner that it is being poured into. Her legs had been completely consumed by the ice-cold liquid, making her shiver. As if just now picking up how cold she seemed, the cause of her peril broke the sharp silence. "I should have done this in the daytime, shouldn't I? You seem terribly cold down there. Maybe a blanket could help. What do you think hun?" He smiled, bearing the teeth that had once left scars on Noelle's back. Knowing full well that she couldn't speak, he continued the line of questions he had begun feeding her. "Don't you wish you could do this every day? it must feel incredible!" The cement continued its path, reaching across her belly until it pushed up to where her chest was. Noelle was both glad that she had been bound in an X-shape and terrified at the thought that the last thing it would consume would be her hands.

The moon hung low in the sky, a soft waning crescent. A telltale sign that any day now the moon would be born anew. Noelle could only hope that this sight above her was confirmation that the machine she had constructed worked, as it had not yet been tested. Her breathing ragged as the chilling cement rolled over her body, threatening to freeze her in more ways than one. The rebar that sandwiched her had been all but consumed in the corner from which the steady stream flowed. "You seem awfully invested in the moon up there. Did I misjudge you? Maybe you are one of those star sign and moon phase shitbags. God, can you imagine basing your entire personality on the day you were born?"

As she took a deep breath, her view of the moon would slowly be covered up as she felt the cement rush over her face. Her final moments are fast approaching. "Well, I guess this is goodbye! What a shame that I won't get to display you to my adoring fans. I'm sure they would love you!" The final words Noelle would ever hear rattle around in her head. The tears on her face are rendered meaningless as another liquid takes dominance here. As she felt it slowly creep up her arms, the cement encasing her feet would start to harden, almost pushing against her skin. It wouldn't be long now before she was returned to the earth prematurely. What cruel fate could have caused this? After she had tried to do everything right, was this truly the ending she deserved? A few moments later the cement flow would stop. The hardening effect climbed up her body as the deep breaths she took started to run out. Eventually, the world fell silent. The soft sounds of hardening cement coming to an end. Her body felt like it was being crushed from all angles, and eventually, her final moments would pass.
